For your kind information. for Goa Su-Raj Party. Sd/- (Floriano Lobo) President. PRESS RELEASE The Goa Su-Raj Party supports the villagers of Cacra near Goa University over the acute water shortage. It is indeed an irony that people within a radius of five Kms from the outskirts of Panjim have to go thirsty, while the State Government focuses itself on the IFFI and other irrelevant projects. The Party demands that the water from the Goa University quota be made available to the village of Cacra as the villagers are the original inhabitants of the table-top plateau where the Goa University is located today, before they were displaced to its base. In appreciation of their stellar contributions and sacrifices towards the cause of University education in Goa, these poor people have been rewarded with sewerage from the University seeping into their wells. Presently they are facing an acute water shortage which is comparable to that prevailing in the deserts of Rajasthan. The Goa Su-Raj Party calls upon the Government of Goa to refocus its priorities away from cosmetic constructions of traffic islands, "lip sticking " of private houses using public funds, to a genuine people oriented developmental model, instead of frittering away public revenue on baubles like the IFFI, pampering of theatre owners through interest free loans, cyberage schemes and patronage to the cement industry through projects of dubious utility.
