To, Shri. Manohar Parrikar, The Honorable Chief Minister of Goa, Government Secretariat, Panjim-Goa. Sir, Subject: Cancerous growth on New Mandovi Bridge. I have been meaning to communicate with you on a better note, but then these small irritants never allow better occasions to come by for cordial communications. If I remember correctly, your Government was responsible for hosting the Road Safety meet at Menezes Braganza hall recently for two days where Dr. Pasricha from Mumbai (Mumbai Traffic Cop) and a host of local brains and safety conscious personalities gave us their pieces of their minds on road safety et al. I say "your Govt. was responsible" because it was organized by Goa's Freedom Fighter Gurunath Kelekar, President of ":MARG " since he was the recipient of the Rs. 5 lakhs generously donated to him by your Government, which amount has indirectly come out from the pockets of the Goan taxpayers. And a young lady had brought to the notice of Mr. Jagdish Wagh, the convenor of one such many sessions that the cancerous growth of excess , uneven asphalt accumulated on the sides of the road of the new Mandovi bridge was highly dangerous for two wheelers. It looks like this phenomena is invisible to the authorities who are entrusted with the duties of looking more closely at such things rather then idly loiter collecting hafta from the riders and dirvers. And I hate to say that you need to be unnecessarily reminded of these aberrations by the people whose salaries you pay. And you should not be bothered with these small things since you have to look after larger things for the better health of entire Goa such as IFFY and getting your two candidates elected in the coming general elections. But then, just as you have looked at the stretch of the highway from Sai service to The Majestic Hotel, endowing it with cat-eyes, do look , even from your car's tinted glasses at this initial stretch of the Mandovi bridge road starting from Betim. And if you feel like it, please send some of the many barbers from your constituency to shave off this aberration. Afterall, we must get ready to please the many foreign film personalities who will be flooding Panjim for the inaugural IFFY in Goa and we don't want them to bump-off the Mandovi bridge into the Mandovi River. And even if those who enjoy Rs. 500 per month pocket money that you have given them through DSSS refuse to vote for your candidates, I shall do so if only you will heed to my above request. Thanking you, Yours truly, Floriano Lobo goasuraj. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
