(H) IFFI FILES: PMCA UNHAPPY: The People's Movement for Civic Action has expressed shock at the statement by chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is also the chairman of the GSIDC, that despite the announcement by government that the IFFI related files would be kept open at the GSIDC office between 25 and 27 April for perusal by people, no one had shown any interest in seeking information. Patricia Pinto of PMCA pointed out in a press note that on 9th April the government had stated that files would be kept open for inspection after 25 April in view of the office of the GSIDC being shifted. It also stated that the Board had decided to publish advertisements in local newspapers to inform about the exact date and timing for seeking information. But nothing of this sort was done and yet the chief minister had unilaterally decided to close the files even before they were opened, while casting political aspersions on NGOs and citizens.
