One wishes they had the training and supporting structures in Goa to enable them to access higher-skilled jobs. Despite theories about dignity of labour, low-end jobs would equal low-end pay and conditions. One has known young men who worked on salaries of $50 per month on cruise liners -- and had to slog extra hard to earn more via the tips-route. Besides making for insecure service conditions, this also led to a lot of difficulties at their job.
