Mr. Athavle: Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Athavle favoured reviving the old proposal of merging some parts of the neighbouring states into Goa. He said he would take the initiative to hold talks with political parties in Goa as well as the State Government on this issue if there is positive response for it. He said Belgaum also be divided into two based on the language spoken there. Once Marathi speaking part of Belgaum is carved out, the areas beginning there should be merged with Goa, he said.
