Gilbert Lawrence: Can you or any WGD organizers or G.O.A. organizers PLEASE tell me? What is the difficulty to have a small table at the celebrations and display the 10-12 English-Goan books? Just ask the Goan writers in your own city or country to provide the lead in promoting Goan books at your GOAN FESTIVAL and let him/her figure the best approach. Again, can someone please explain to me the difficulty of doing this? Rene Barretto: We can go on asking questions on this forum, I can assure you will not get an answer. I believe that the only way of making it happen, is to get some one to do it or do it yourself! But then - these are just my thoughts. Gilbert Lawrence responds: Try ... Try... Try again... and you will succeed. If I did not believe this, I would not reach my current station in life. Last year I 'crossed swords' with Goa Sudharop about having a chief guest at Goan functions. It was with delight I noted the President of the organization write that we should invite guests for this year's WGD function to talk about "Jobs for Goans" and that these chief guests would be role models for our youth. I am not taking credit for this idea as this does not take much explanation. I find it interesting that we want outstanding Goans (compared to white men) to be role models for our Goan boys. But we do not want any Goan to be outstanding or be recognized for it. It beats me that at our social events, we have all the time for JW - red, black and blue. But NO time to put our words into actions, even when someone volunteers to put them into action. Regards.
