I am very sad at the demise of Mrs. Mary Vaz. I was fortunate to act with her and Jacinto Vaz in five dramas in Bahrain in 1978. Our heartfelt condolences to his sons Tony & Peter and their families. May her soul rest in peace.

SAD DEMISE OF TIATR ARTISTE MARY VAZ: "Mrs. Mary Vaz, one of the seniormost Konkani stage artistes and wife of late Jacinto Vaz - Goa's Charlie Chaplin - passed away peacefully early this morning at her residence in Azossim, Mandur. Her funeral will take place today evening," read an email message from goanetter Daniel F. de Souza [EMAIL PROTECTED], on October 15. Besides her performance on the stage Marry Vaz also did a brief role in the Konknni film "Nirmonn". Vivacious Mary D'Silva lived in Chandanwadi in Mumbai, where she came across Jacinto Vaz and married him at the age of seventeen, says Bonaventure D'Pietro in his Konkani Magazine "Arso". Mary acted for the first time in "Xevott Putancho", a tiatr staged by Jacinto Vaz as a charity show in aid of St Francis Xavier church in Dabul. Her career took off with the role of Mary Magdalene in JP Souzaline's religious tiatr "Saibinnicheo Sat Dukhi". Fr Freddy J da Costa also featured her in his popular plays. She leaves behind two sons, Tony, a wellknown bass guitar player in the Hindi film industry, and Peter. (GoaNOW)
