TENSION IN SANGUEM: Death of an injured youth,
following the alleged
negligence by the doctor and nurse at the health
centre, brought Sanguem to
a boil on September 28, with irate villagers damaging
the Sanguem Primary
Health Centre after the medical officer and the staff
nurse on duty refused
to accompany an injured man - Sameer Naik (39) - to
the GMC on September 27
night. The incident occurred during the Ganesh idol
immersion at Sangampur
river bank when 30-year-old Sameer Naik accidentally
fell down from a height
of 12 feet resulting in serious head injuries. (GT)
