An accident is an accident. A life might have been saved by a seat belt. That is academic now. However seat belts--or a hydraulic lock-in guard as in Disney world vehicles---may be a good idea for the sky bus till the people get used to the technology. These problems are seen also when electric trains are started in areas where the public is used to steam or diesel locomotives. No one discarded the electric trains because of accidents. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote The SKYBUS is a new technology. It has to be tested. Thats why it was a trial run. Trial runs are held to test the technology. Technology is updated everyday, every year accident or no accident. Lets hope that our country's SKYBUS technolgy proves itself and becomes a competitor worldwide to the MEGLEV trains, etc. Critisizing KRCs attempts to create a world class technology belittles the efforts of Indians and Indian scientists. We should all support KRC in trying times and hope that we have a world class technology in the SKYBUS created in our own GOA. Bharat PS: Would the guy have fallen out of the train and died if he had worn his seatbelt? Motorists please note the accident occured at 50 Kmph or so, a common speed at which we drive our cars. --------Original Message ------- braganza do u think the tech. has failed here, I spoke to Mr. Rajaram and you can find his interview on NDTV he says Tech. is perfect.NDTV correspondent. rbarreto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: "godfrey gonsalves" In a freak accident today 24th September,2004 at 1607hrs IST the indigenously built SKYBUS of the Konkan Railway Corporation oversped beyond over 20 kmph (thenormal speed required while negotiating at crucial near right angle turn )at the Rawanfond end nearMargao Railway Station hitting disastrously on the pillars resulting in the door falling apart. Of the over a dozen workmen in the SKY BUS one fitter an employee of KRCL died from a fall and two others escaped with injuries. When this writer visited the spot of the accident there was chaos and an unmanageable crowd surged towards the accident spot at little away from the KRCLMargao Station. With the sky overcast and last monsoon showers rainfall expected there was a pall of gloom all over. It is believed that a technical fault of the computer aided controls resulted in the overun. One official in a hush hush divulged that an overenthusiast among the officials may have played spoilsport. .......................................... The successful test run of the Skybus hardly evoked any discussion on the Net. One accident and there is so much buzz. Do we like to emphasize the " I told you so! " attitude of the self-righteous? Give the KRC a chance. Encourage it to excel...or revive the Konkan Railway Re-alignment Action Committee. Strong supporters of the KRRAC now shamelessly use the train. Viva Goa. Miguel
