A public meeting of Ribandarites held at Ribandar on Sunday 26th September
vowed to work unitedly for the progress and development of Ribandar.

The meeting which was convened by senior citizens of the area appealed to
the residents to shed personal differences and think of the overall welfare
of the locality.

A traditional lamp was ignited to symbolize peace and unity amongst all
residents of Ribandar regardless of caste and creed.

In his welcome address Minguel Gonsalves appealed to the people to maintain
the rich tradition of unity in the village.

Speaking on the occasion I have appealed to the government to fulfill the
two long pending demands of Ribandar, a football ground and a community hall
pending for the last over 35 years.

Danny Fernandes, Domingos Cardoz, Bernard Lobo, Tony Fernandes and Mariano
Vicente also spoke highlighting the need of maintaining unity amongst the
residents

Anthony Frois compered the meeting and reiterated that Priests will come and
go but the villagers will have to ensure their unity and best interests. The
meeting concluded with thanksgiving prayers.

Meanwhile reliable police sources have informed that the charge sheet is
being filed in the next few days against Ribandar Parish Priest Fr Newton
Rodrigues who is accused of allegedly molesting a 13 year old girl in a
church room on the pretext of taking her for confession.

I can understand Fr Newton's dilemma. He has done everything possible to
hush up the matter. Even got the nuns of the convent whose lawyer I have
been for the last three years to file a false and fabricated case against
me. Having lost the ground battle Fr Newton and his chums have moved on to
the cyber world. They have been huddled late nights in the church the last
few days constructing a website on Aires Rodrigues. Thank you. Good try but
it will be another effort in vain. Its an irony that the parishioners are
going to pay the costs of this futile exercise.
