Sheesh! Satish Gujral designed the Goa University, probably got the contract because of his central clout.. His campus layouts were exhorbitantly expensive, his faculty blocks are not practical, his exteriors are not suitable for Goan weather and the whole architectural exercise is best described in Cho Padamsee's (ex-principal of Goa Arch College)term : Mickey Mouse architecture. Gujral should have looked around Goa and he would have found that: 1- sloping roofs are best for Goa 2- exterior surfaces should never be exposed to rain 3- in Goa we have a tradition of austerity and simple functionality, not gross overspending 4- Structures in Goa, both Port and pre-Portuguese have warmth and dignity, which the GU severely lacks. etc etc. The complex has no character, just a bureaucratic babu-style nameless sprawl without warmth or finesse of any sort. How dare you inflict this ugly monstrosity on us, Gujral ?!!
