Vanity Fair to open IFFI By: Udita Jhunjhunwala October 4, 2004 http://web.mid-day.com/entertainment/hot_today/2004/october/93857.htm In Mumbai for a day for the release of the reprint of friend and scriptwriter Sooni Taraporevala’s book on Parsis, New York-based filmmaker Mira Nair said that her film Vanity Fair (starring Reese Witherspoon), will open the International Film Festival of India (IFF) in Goa. Scheduled for the end of November, Nair hopes that Witherspoon and other cast members will be present for the screening. Vanity Fair, based on the novel by William Thackeray, will go on general release in India on December 3 with two premieres for the Salaam Balak Trust (in Mumbai and Delhi). Nair was in India briefly visiting her mother in Delhi and moving on to Kolkata after Mumbai to start location hunting and casting for her next feature film The Namesake, based on the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri (Interpreter of Maladies). “We will shoot in Kolkata, a little in Agra and Delhi and mainly in the US,” said Nair.
