I am curious how many Goan restaurants there are in London/Toronto. I get this query often from US
visitors headed to London/Toronto. Given the substantial Goan populations in those cities, I am
surprized there are not many (or at least I have not heard of them).
Regards, George
========================================== George,
I do get enquiries about UK Goan Restaurants and over the years I have compiled a list, with some reviews - see below. In addtion to those listed there are many others serving Goan and other regional Indian food - restaurants like the Bombay Brasserie, Chutney Marys, Khans, Le Porte des Indes, Zaika, Tamarind, etc. The list below is by no means exhaustive. I can think of Suruchi in Edinburgh, for example.
Errors and Omissions welcome!
Cheers
Eddie Fernandes

This is good, wholesome, slow-cooked Goan food...elusive South Indian flavours like kokum (small black plums) and anchoor (powdered, dried mango) ...sorpitel .. Porco vindaloo...Ma's fish caldin...Gallina kodi...variation on the chicken xacutti that has found its way on to so many supermarket shelves... 592 words
The most popular starters is the laconically named Goan sausages, which are almost worth a visit in themselves. Goan sausages are rich, meaty and seasoned with palm vinegar, cinnamon and plenty of green chillies - a world away from the British breakfast sausage.
Open Tue-Sat 6.00pm-11.00pm, Sun 6pm-10pm

Pinto the manager, and head chef Neelam Bangari work together to provide a unique dining experience for a discerning and mixed bunch of diners. The restaurant, established in 1995 by Goan restauranter Walter D'Souza, provides a memorable dining experience.
Starters Given the Goan roots of this business, it's of no surprise that seafood is well represented here. The Goa fried fish and King Prawn Puree are, perhaps the most specialised of starters.
