The state of the art, wire-stayed bridge between Aldona mainland and Corjuem over River Mapusa was load-tested on Sunday night. Twelve ten-tonner trucks, loaded with huge concrete blocks were parked in two rows for a couple of hours on the Corjuem side of the twin columns from which the bridge is suspended. The bridge has passed the test of strength. The approach roads have been black topped... and so is the wear coat of the bridge. The central and lateral white lines have been painted. The foot path is paver finished and the whole bridge has been painted. The bridge is ready like a bride at the "Ross" ceremony onthe eve of the wedding day. Traffic was also stopped for the day...just as the groom is kept away on this day. Get set to see the Corjuem Fort and celebrate 150 years of the Corjuem chapel with a bang. Viva. Miguel
