World Goa Heritage Day held in Mumbai
World Goa Heritage Day 2004 organised by Goan Review Art Foundation (GRAF) on 17th. Oct.'04 at Mary Immaculate Girls' High School Hall, I C Colony, Borivli was largely attended by the Goans.
The Chief Guest Rajiv Singbal speaking on the occasion called upon the Goans to be proud of their rich heritage and work towards preserving it for posterity especially the Konkani language.
The cultural programme presented by the members of GRAF that took off with the song 'Sobhit Amchem Goem' written by renowned Konkani poet Manoharrai Sardessai describing the natural beauty of Goa consisted of rich traditional culture - Mandos-Dulpods, Kunnbi & Kharvi dance, operetta, songs & a skit 'Goencho Mog'.
Four personalities who have rendered yeoman service to Konkani culture and Goan Society were felicitated on the occasion - Antoinette Mendes (Art-Tiatr), Manuel & Julius Noronha (Konkani Music), Philomena Samfrancisco (Konkani Literature) and Balbina Pinto (Culinary Art).
The President of GRAF Fausto V. da Costa in his welcome speech stressed upon fostering unity among Goans and advised the gathering to work unitedly to promote the Goan culture and language. "Konkani language is the identity of every Goan. Let's be proud of our language and culture," he added.
