Get the Goan experience in city

New Delhi, October 27
If you wanted to visit Goa this winter but couldn't
make it, don't fret. You can make merry at a festival
being held at Goa Sadan in Amrita Shergil Marg. The
land of dance, music and sunshine is being literally
recreated here for the next six days.
The event, inaugurated by Union tourism minister
Renuka Chaudhury at the Sri Fort Auditorium on
Tuesday, promises a variety of food and handicraft
from the state. Besides the six-day festival, a
seminar on the emerging identity of Goans will also be
held.
"The festival will showcase the folk life of Goa,
their feasts, rituals and dances", said Suman Kurade,
president Goenkarancho Ekvot, an organisation of Goans
in Delhi.
"The idea is to tell people that Goans can do things
beyond merry-making", said Laxmikant, a filmmaker from
Goa, whose film A Sea Side Story will be shown during
the festival.
