Just informing us of numbers is not a satisfactory answer. What is the total number of women riders and drivers to men riders and drivers? One then should calculate the proportion of women's accidents to their number driving, to that of men. This may give us a more accurate picture. But I must say that it is the condition of the roads, and the non rules of driving in Goa, that is the problem. Now that we have more vehicles on the road, there will be either more accidents or could be less, in that people will be forced to drive slowly, because of traffic congestion. Statistics in other countries do indicate that women are more safe drivers, but that is beginning to change. Let us get our roads in a better condition and instruct and enforce drivers to follow the driving code. In Goa, everything goes, and that is the reason for the fatal deaths. If you count the deaths on roads in Goa compared to other countries, I am sure that on population basis, we will be up in the higher reaches of the list.
