G.O.A 8-A-Side Ramadan Tournament results Kuwait City: The Silver Jubilee 8-a-side Ramadan Soccer tournament organized by Goan Overseas Association got off to a resounding start yesterday, 3rd November, with Bombay Boys and G.O.A Yellow scoring narrow victories to book their places in the quarter finals. In the inaugural match, Goa Maroons captained by veteran Terrence Carvalho lost narrowly to Bombay Boys 1-2 in the tie breaker after the match ended goalless. The game was evenly contested and although Julio under the Maroons bar had to make a stretching save as early as the first minute to keep his team in the match, the second half was largely dominated by Goa Maroons, with Larry who other wise had an excellent game, missing out on a scoring opportunity which could have sealed the match. In the tie breaker, Terence D'Silva and Agnelo D'Souza scored for Bombay Boys, where only Joseph Correia could find the net for Goa Maroons. In the second match played at 6:30pm, heavy weights G.O.A (Yellow) the A team of Goan Overseas Association, edged out star studded X-Pats, 2-1 in a hotly contested encounter. Both teams were evenly matched, and it was only the opportunistic goals scored by Luciano and Elvis in the first half that ensured G.O.A Yellow went to the next round. Francis scored from the spot kick to reduce the margin for X-Pats in the second half. Earlier, Mr. Raymond D'Sa the president of Goan Overseas Association was introduced to the players before the start of the match. The matches were refereed by Gaspar Crasto Eric Almeida. The tournament continues on Friday, 5th November, with Flames playing Rising Stars at 5:45pm and City Boys taking on Navelim Youth at 6:15pm.
