IFFI 2004, will open to Mira Nair's Vanity Fair, at an inauguration by ... thespian Dilip Kumar.
*** Today Indian Express reports: "The organisers are working overtime to woo Jonathan Rhys (Vanity Fair) to visit the first screening of [the] film" I saw Vanity Fair at the London Film Festival (LFF) last month and it was premiered in the US in August 2004 I think.
Dilip Kumar came to a Q & A session at the National Film Theatre, London, last month. It ended in chaos because he insisted in speaking in Hindi and the translator did nothing but smile! There were scenes of angry confrontation between Dilip Kumar and a section of the audience. The evening's proceedings were marred.
Fancoise Ozon's 5x2 ... will premiere at the 35 th IFFI 2004.

It is a pity that Shyam Benegal's film "Bose" is not in the programme. It was listed for the LFF but failed to turn up as it is "awaiting completion."
