We,at South Goa Public Interest Action Group (SGPIAG) a registered NGO based in Margao,Salcete, South Goa District ,with jurisdiction, at present, over the entire South Goa Parliamentary Constituency have been since December 2000 receiving queries on matters affecting Goa and Goans from both within the State the Country and also abroad. Our representatives in India and abroad, active members, have always tried to provide whatever assistance necessary, to those who seek our assistance, in person, via email, through p correspondence, fax messages or our dedicated 24 hrs HELPLINE. During the tourist season from 27th September to 15 May and with this years International Film Festival of India - Goa from the 29th November 2004 to 9th December,2004 and the Exposition of sacred relics of St Francis Xavier from 21st November 2004 to 2nd January 2004, there has been a request for a TRAVEL Advisory to guide the visitor. There have been complaints of extortion and locals desirous to "kill" the goose that lays the golden eggs. Most of it is genuine and some a figment of one's own imagination. After interacting with tourists both from India and overseas our members and well wishers spent few days at the bus terminals, railway stations, airport and ports to get a first hand information discreetly from the outgoing tourists at the exit point. Based on their observation we have put a tentative Travel Advisory in place which is subject to updates from time to time.
