"I wonder if conservatives in the U.S. realize that the Hindu caste system is the bedrock of conservatism in India. Indian liberalism has failed to eliminate it. I suspect this is so because we liberals have not tried hard enough. We have never backed our public denunciations with private actions in our own lives. There are many reasons for this, most of which are not very flattering, granted some may be as bland as a simple inertia or lack of courage to go against the grain."
Would Santosh agree with me if I say that Indian liberalism has had more than enough opportunity to eliminate the caste system? Would he agree with me that if his statement about not backing the public denunciations with private actions smacks of hypocrisy?
