PLACE FOR KOKBOROK BUT NOT KONKANI: IFFI 2004 has a sure place for even a
Kokborok film but not a single one in Amchi Maim Bhas Konkani. While the
official list of 200 films to be screened at the prestigious maiden event at
the permanent venue has been released, no Konkani film finds place in it.
Indeed, four or five Konkani films including Rajendra Talak's "Alisha" and
Sanjeev Prabhudessai's "Sood" are awaiting the approval of Directorate of
Film Festival (both are yet to be completed) to be shown at the 10-day
festival, but there are many who strongly feel that at least one of the two
Konkani classics, "Amchem Noxib" or "Nirmon" should have been showcased
here. "Amchem Noxib" which was shot in Panaji and other places and shows the
beautiful skyline of the city in the fifties, evokes nostalgia among Goan
film lovers. (GT)

find darkness in place of the usual riot of colours and hordes of people.
Ingo, who has been running the night bazaar since 1998 alleged that the
Arpora-Nagoa panchayat had been harassing him and refused to give him NOC to
start the market for the 2004-05 season. (GT)

Sadolxem-Canacona are experiencing sleepless night ant this time,
caterpillar worms and not mosquitoes are the culprits for the insomnia. But
what's also driving them nuts is the inability of the government authorities
