Fartleann uloitat kitem ??? All-of-a-sudden you want to be politically-correct and give us due respect for our feelings....tch-tch-tch !! What has happened to you this past week ?? So emotional ?? Probably the after effects of "Surviving Panjim" :-) Your trip to Siolim is probably overdue....better stock-up before the hordes descend on Goa.....;-) On a serious note....If Shipee is derogatory, what is Tarvotti ?? Complimentary ?? And if Gulfee is derogatory, is Kuwaitkar, Basurkar, etc laudatory ?? And was Gulfee derogatory when Rajan Narayan used it in the Goan Observer ?? Did you hear any "background controversy" at that time ?? And would it be ok if we spelt it differently Gulfi, Gulfie, Golfee ?? Just asking because.....you know the rest of this line..... Maybe a reading of Asha Iyer Kumar at https://www.sulekha.com/printer.asp?ctid=1000&cid=306627 is helpful......Or maybe it's ok for her to use the term as she hails from Kerala.....Or maybe it's OK because I don't know who she is. If it was somebody I knew.....I would be offended. I don't think the above words are derogatory at all unless they are repeatedly used in a disparaging tone.......There are a number of words we see on Goanet that are offensive......everyday.....some people think they put a point across very well when they use words in their dialogue derogatorily. They feel empowered !! They think they are more truthful than others !! I can tell you, I am offended everytime you tell me I'm suffering from kodakophobia.....everytime you say it.....wipes the smirk off my face !! Now that you know I'm offended, will you stop using that word ?? Best wishes - Bosco PS.....go down..... ........go further down.......... ..........a little more further down.......... ............please....a little more further down....... .....ok, I'm not really offended with kodakophobia.....but I hope I made my point !! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goanet - http://www.goanet.org - Goa's premier mailing list is 10 years old
