Minor girl raped at Sernabatim NT News Service Margao Nov 20: The Colva police have arrested an Italian national from Sernabatim for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl from Navelim. A 20-year-old woman has also been arrested for abetting the crime. Police sub-inspector, Mr Jivba Dalvi who is investigating the case said that the 56-year-old Italian national, Lazinni Giorgi had recently employed the 10-year-old girl as a domestic help. The mother of the victim lodged a police complaint, yesterday following which an offence was registered and both the accused were arrested today. The complainant alleged that her daughter was raped on three occasions by the accused. Giorgi’s accomplice, Denkatty from Karnataka is accused of convincing the victim’s mother to let the girl work in the accused’s house. A medical examination revealed that the girl had indeed been raped. The duo have been charged under sections 376, 377, 342 109 and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act. The South Goa superintendent of police, Mr Devendra Verma along with sub-divisional police officer, Mr Mohan Naik and Mr Dalvi visited the place and guided the investigation. The police have also recorded the statements of three persons in connection with the case.
