Nagesh-Bab,
I am glad to note that with regards to safety, there has been atleast one as
observant as you.

Several years ago I owned a Maruti Van. My reasons then being mainly cost
and convenience. A few years later, over a short period of time, I happened
to see three different scenarios where the resultant mass of steel and blood
spattered seats were the remains of the same Vans after they had been
through accidents (each in different accidents). I know not what happened to
the occupants, I did not dare to even think of it as drove past these
wrecks. I promptly sold mine and settled for a more safe vehicle.
Of course you don't have to be rough and reckless on the roads to get
killed. You only have to be unlucky enough to be on the right side of the
road doing the right thing while a reckless driver comes along. A reckless
driver is usually one who is illiterate and has obtained his licence through
improper means. Obtaining a licence through improper means is not uncommon
these days!
What about the PSI who smashed the Truck cleaner while he was dong something
perfectly legal, but wrong...... innocently crossing the road to submit his
papers to the RTO Office!

Have you ever wondered?
Do Policemen possess a drivers licence? (either 2 wheeler/LMV/HMV????)
Are they required to????

Just like the ludicrous helmet rule that requires one to wear a helmet while
riding a two wheeler on the highway, can we have a Maruti van rule? One that
requires a Maruti van to stay off the Highways? Is there a rule that
requires reckless drivers to stay on highways only? or out of the
village/town/city roads? NO! The rule requires that they should be locked up
and the licence be suspended!

The Maruti Van, while being a money spinner for MUL is also a killer for the
common man, who is attracted by the status of owning a vehicle but cannot
afford a safer vehicle!
With regards to the Maruti van, there can only be one option for MUL.....
terminate the production of this vehicle with immediate effect!

Does any one realize that in case of a collision (regardless of whether with
another vehicle or with an electric pole or just stray cattle), the first
casualties are likely to be the drivers legs that are no more than 14-18
inches from the front end of the vehicle! A Bull guard will only add a few
inches to that!
