"Is Congress an opposition party?"
"Well, we didn't know"
(Editorial GT- 20 November, 2004)

RESPONSE -COMMENTS:

Congress' tribulations smack of the age old story of the King of the Jungle,
the Lion. And by no means are we talking about or implying at the 'Lion' of
the MGP, which has long since been dead. This story goes that the King was
getting older and feebler by the day. Its roar was not the roaaaar that
would bring down to knees all its subjects or at least open the vast ears of
the jungle goliath, the elephant. And the King's harem was falling prey to
the young and sporting blood. The King being worried, went into deep
thought, and came out with a perfect answer. A proclamation was sounded.
"Thou shall not steal". "Thou shall not commit adultery", "Thou shall not
take away your neighbours wife". "Thou shall kneel down in obeisance before
your King", and many more.

The only problem with the Congress, as GT has rightly said, is that the
Congress in Goa has too many Kings who are getting older and feebler by the
day. And the proclamations from each one of them to suit their weaknesses
have confused the subjects into near paralysis. A time is yet to come for a
bold, and a beautiful, and an intelligent, and a strong and a very young
and tall in principles, KING to emerge and banish all these feeble, impotent
and useless Kings to the confines of the aged home. If only the Congress had
groomed a younger prince to save its skin in its old age, things would have
been different and less time consuming to manufacture a brand new King.

The Congress must be careful indeed. If it does not spawn this much needed
younger, powerful KING soon enough, the subjects are bound to stray into the
BJP camp a la Isidore, Babushes x 2, Matanhy, Neri et al.

And there is no need for much and undue concern about that happening. For
there is the Goa Su-Raj which has come up practically on the graveyard of
the Congress, showing the beacon for the lost souls. In the shipwreck demise
of a giant, there is bound to be a lot of floatsome for the drowning to
cling to and get to the shores of 'AMCHEM GOEM' and to safety.
