In the excerpts of the article from the Toronto Star (Nov 20) about a Museum of Hindu Civilisation, posted by Bosco D'Mello, it is said: "To that end, the museum attempts to dispel what Doobay calls the most stubborn misconceptions about Hinduism: that it is polytheistic and that its adherents worship idols."
I would like to disagree with this. Hinduism is polytheistic, since it believes that there are many paths to salvation. And Hindus do worship idols. Some experts say that the worship of idol is actually worship of god - that is god is worshipped through the idols. But nevertheless the idols are worshipped, and treated with a lot of reverence.
