Re: Melinda Powell's of Nov 28 on "Panjim Ablaze ..."

I too took a drive yesterday to check out things before the road is closed
for ten days. My main purpose was to have alook at the "plasma screen" at
Miramar. I have never seen a plasma screen except maybe occasionally in
appliance showrooms of shopping malls. These are 30-40 inch state of the art
gizmos while the Miramar one is touted to be 70x30 (sq) FEET! A search on
the Net revealed that even Olympic screens are "LED" types not plasma
screens. If the Miramar one is a "plasma" screen then I am a monkey's uncle.
To me it looked like plain old (XXXL) white sheets on plywood backing.
Projection seemed like it would be effected from a "machan" like structure
50 yards in front. For all you know this would be from a good old 16 mm (or
thereabouts) projector! Almost every report I have seen so far dutifully
says the Miramar get up is a "plasma screen"! Any technical experts out
there who can shed light on this subject?
