Dear Fred,

Is that supposed to be a statement of fact or an intelligent guess? It
seems pretty dumb for Adv.Herculano Dourado, ex-MLA of Vasco , to be the
President of the Goa Hockey Association[GHA] and to represent GHA at
Athens
Olympics recently, if what you write is right. He might as well
migrate...even if this St.Xavier's College-Mapusa alumni and football
player
is not a East Africa repatriate. Are we playinf hokey instead of hockey?

I know plenty of Goans who never went to Africa [and hence not
Afrikanders]
who played hockey in the 1960s and 1970s. there were regular tournaments
in
hockey. Even Aldona Institute used to organise a 6-a-side tourney. I
played
hockey,so did my sister Fatima[now Antao] who was a contemporary of
Herculano in SXC. Ana Figueira and Lilian D'Costa Fernandes entered
Customs
through hockey. They are still around. Hockey needs a push at the school
level. It needs visionaries like Alberto Colaco and Savio Messias are
for
AIFF and Goa Football Association. Funds have to be raised and spent on
training and tournaments. There is no other way.

Viva Goa.
Miguel
