But thanks to the IFFI, a handful of films from Portugal (five to be precise) will be making their presence felt in Goa. 35th IFFI is screening a special 'retrospective' on Portuguese films. The films being screened are: * Adao e Eva / Adam And Eve 1995, 35 mm color 104 minutes Director: Joaquim Leitao This film is about a bisexual TV reporter Catarina Menezes who decides to have a baby without the interferences of a father. She plans to seduce a Spanish humanitarian doctor, Rafael, in order to have the child. It all works out until her current live-in girlfriend finds out that she is pregnant and gets very upset. She tells her that she is about to make her life a living hell. With all this going on in her life, she takes comfort in the arms of a fellow journalist. * Hell/Inferno 2002, 35 mm, color, 100 minutes Director Joaquim Leitao A group of ex-special commondos of the Portuguese Army is surrounded by a band of Spanish drug traffickers accidentally. The old soldiers will have to forget their quarrels to be united and remember the old times with the objective of saving the lives of two of them who have been taken hostage in a dark brothel off the highway. * Temptation / Tentacao 1997, 35 mm colour Director Joaqum Leitao Father Antonio decides to help Lena, a drug addict in prison. The friendship between the two becomes so strong that it angers the inhabitants of the small Portuguese city of Vila Daires. When all seems to go well, a tragedy hits Lena's family. * Gold River / O Rio do Ouro 1988, 35 mm, colour 135 mins Director Paulo Rocha An old couple mary and live on the river, where their neice Melitta is rescued by Antonio. Carolina is desperate with jealousy and seizes the opportunity to discover the secret of Melitta who a gipsy goldsmith had seen before fleeing. Carolin is determined to become the gypsy's mistress to get the secret. * Root of The Heart / A Raiz do Coracao 2000 35 mm colour 114minutes In Lisbon, Caton, a chismatic and unscrupulous politician, is obsessed with Silvia, a young mystical transvestite. Vincente is a police officer who is persecuting transvestites.
