German national held for raping minor at Colva

Margao Nov 29: The Colva police today arrested a German national for
allegedly raping a minor girl who was selling fruits on the beach.

The police have registered an offence under Section 376 of the Indian Penal
Code and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act against the alleged accused
residing in a room at Colva. The victim hails from Karnataka.

It may be recalled that this is the second rape case reported this month
within the Colva police station jurisdiction.

The police sub-inspector, Mr Jivba Dalvi gave the name of the German
national as Gunter Deckman. He was staying in the area for the last few
months, according to the police.

The police informed that according to the victim, the accused took her to a
hotel near Colva circle one month back and sexually assaulted her.

According to the police, a NGO activist met the victim today at Benaulim and
while talking to the activist the victim narrated the above incident.

Later the Colva police were contacted and the German national

was called and identified by the minor girl.

Both the German national and the victim have been send to the Goa Medical
College Hospital, Bambolim, for medical examination and the report is
awaited.

The police said that some statements have been recorded and further
investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile, the Italian national, Lazinni Glorgi, who was arrested in
Sernabatim, following sexual assault on a minor girl has been remanded to
judicial custody.
