RE: Godfrey Gonsalves' of Nov 29 I do hope we are spared the Mickey Mouse stuff (float parades, monkey tricks, snake charming, children's fancy dress etc) in future episodes of IFFI (assuming Panjim continues as the permanent venue). All this seems to be meant as sops to locals. In this connection there has been much too much hype about IFFI right from the CM on down and over zealous efforts at city beautification. This has led to govt folks (who got a half day holiday to boot) crowding out VIPs at Kala Academy and messing up the inaugural function. There was also no foregsight regarding outdoor vs indoor vis a vis AR Rehman's program. So IFFI has got off to a start, but just about barely. If the kind of confusion at the venue reported in the paper persists then that may be the story of the whole program. This kind of millstone, future episodes of IFFI can well do without.
