My compliments to Fernando for sharing his views on modest funeral rites in Goa and encouraging us to follow suit. Without any doubt I will support him fully to the hilt as it will not only strengthen our depleted economies especially amongst the economically challenged, but will also hold true of what our scripture tells us, YOU ARE DUST AND UNTO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN. All the pomp and ceremony will not bring us or the dead closer to the Almighty.
It is high time we exploit our desi culture and materials as it will enable our village 'Jonesses' who follow the urbanites blindly, to save for the rainy day. My hats off to Fernando once again for taking such a bold stand on this issue and giving us a direction.

My dear Chris and Fernando,
The two of you are bound to drive undertakers, in Goa, either liquidating their assets or,
morcha-ing the newly paved ((gold, I believe?) streets of neo-Goa decrying their imminent doom...
I, for one, am all for eventual bamboo-blazed bequeathal, and I am very sure that my great cherished
neighbour, and mentor, dear dr. Baronio Monteiro, brigadier Inocencio's pappa, would have cherished one.... the original, and ever determined, environmentalist and optimist.
Hereby I extend my warm love, hardly condolences, to Sunita, Prityi anf his extended family.
Alfred
