4 Dec: Screen. http://www.screenindia.com/fullstory.php?content_id=9503

Releasing the first ever digitally shot and produced English feature film by
an exclusively Goan crew and cast on the life and times of St. Francis
Xavier entitled Grace, Guts & Glory his Grace the Archbishop Filipe Neri
Ferrao congratulated the producers and said the title was appropriate.

Arch Biship Filipe Neri observed that while the Life of St. Francis Xavier
was marked by a great deal of Grace and Guts, he attained Glory only after
his death which came after a life of great suffering and humility in the
service of Christ and his fellow men. Archbishop Filipe Neri commended the
initiative taken by the producers and felicitated all involved in the
project.

The Provincial of the Goa Province of the Society of Jesus Fr. Patrick D’
Mello while congratulating the team noted that the timing was most
appropriate coming as it did on the eve of the exposition of the sacred
relics of St. Francis Xavier. Fr. Patrick D’Mello observed that the making
of the film required a lot of guts and expressed the confidence that some of
the glory and the grace should go on to the producers and the team.

Welcoming the distinguished audience which included the former Chief
Minister of Goa Luizinho Faleiro and Ramon Madhok president of Zuari
Industries and several other distinguished visitors Shamir Deniz said that
the film was the culmination of eleven months of sustained backbreaking
effort and expressed the hope that it would contribute to a greater
understanding of the greatness of St. Francis Xavier.

Deniz emphasized that the film was not conceived as a commercial project and
was made in an attitude of reverence and piety and above all to bring to
life the dramatic story of St. Francis Xavier. He noted that the CD had been
priced at a very nominal Rs. 99 to make it affordable to all. He also
expressed gratitude to all those who have helped Arabian Films to realise
its dream of capturing the life of St. Francis Xavier on film.

He also expressed his deep sense of gratitude to all those who spontaneously
and generously came forward to back the project including the Provincial of
the Goa Province of the Society of Jesus Fr. Patrick D’Mello, Fr. Jerry,
Social Worker Peter Vaz, Minister of water resources and Velim MLA, Philip
Neri and numerous others. Deniz noted that all those who helped did it in a
spirit of reverence and in fact considered it a privilege to be associated
with a film on St. Francis Xavier.

Thanks were also given to Isabel Santa Rita Vas who helped with the casting
and to Francisco Martins who assisted in the design of the sets and Fr.
Dominic Alvare who composed and arranged the music and Angel AV where it was
recorded.

Grace, Guts and Glory features Karan Jaime Bodade in the lead role of St.
Francis Xavier and Jaret De Silva as Ignatius of Loyola the founder of the
Society of Jesus who was responsible for the transformation of St. Francis
Xavier from a feudal Spanish aristocrat to a humble servant of Jesus Christ.

The digital video CD will be available at the Arabian Films stall at the
exposition grounds in Old Goa and all retail outlets of the State.
