The phase two from 5th November,2004 to 9th November
2004 began this morning with several films screened at
INOX movie complex and a theatrical at Kala Academy
main venue.

The interesting feature of today's evening was a
record turnout where even the aisles in theatre two of
INOX movie multiplex had delegates seated on the
floor.

It was the first of the only Indian film premiere
--"American Daylight" directed by Academy award winner
Roger Christian also won an Oscar as well. Some of
his movies are Alien, Bandido, Star wars.
Unfortunately he was not present as he was engaged in
a shooting of a film abroad.

The other cast was given the traditional welcome at
the Inox porch and escorted inside followed by the
audiencence exactly at 1815 hrs The one hour 30
minutes movie was appreciated by all and receive a
loud applause at the end.

Its the story of a call centre in India with client
dealing with banking inquiries . Sujata christened as
"Sue" for the namesake is taught to speak in an
american accent. She nearly mesmerises an a account
holder in United States who is rich millionaire who is
being fleeced by his joint account holder wife and the
American needs to stop it .. This eventually leads to
Sue deviating from the official line of secrecy and
helps the American in his moments of torment for she
herself has been witness to such traumatic moments
with an alcoholic wayward brother and an ailing mother
who she needs to provide medical attention.

The crowds have picked up considerably and Panaji
looks tastefully decorated. The cornice had its local
events and the Childrens Park christened as Bhagwan
mahaveer Park had attractions like Giant wheel etc for
children.

But after the maddening traffic chaos for the "Shaaan
"performance last night there was a chaos at todays
evening. At the KTC bus terminus there were no buses
for over an hour at the shuttle service . The rates
from Panaji to Margao has been hiked to Rs.17/-- but
this is sheer extortion. The tourists continue to be
fleeced and every one that this writer interacted with
blamed the chaotic irregular transport and fleecing by
autorickshaws and two wheelers when caught in this
dilema.

It is a shame that the Chief Minister Mr Manohar
Parrikar who heads the Kadamaba Transport Corporation
has not been able to ensure an efficient transport
system till date even on the nationalised routes.
Most of the traffic supervisors called as "saibas" by
the conductors and drivers have themselves risen from
the conductors status to their present6 positions.
There were several buses but no one cared.

If this is the level of the state of affairs of the
KTC which is headed by the CM one can well understand
the state of transport elsewhere. Infact the MD of
the KTC is used more as an errand boy by the CM at the
IFFI venue attending to entertaining guests.

Other states in India especially in the South have an
excellent transport system and one wonders why the CM
has not set it right.

For a distance of 8 kms from Panaji to DonaPaula the
commuters take 0ne hour fifteen minutes and this
writer saw the conductor giving Rs.20/- to a traffic
policeman in full public glare at the market stop
where the road is closed for the IFFI venue.

It is a shame that CM Parrikar has not been able to
set this right in his own constituency even though
four years in governance.

Even his announcement of a metered taxis at the last
NRI Convention has fallen flat.

It is true that the tourists do not complain but why
should the fair image of the State be spoilt due to an
inefficient transport system? Can the state not
appoint an efficient administrator to ensure an
efficient state transport one wonders

Tommorrow a Konkani movie the first will be premiered
done in just 26 days and approved by the DFF . The
film is by M Talak a veteran Konkani actor.

Meanwhile singer of International fame has criticised
the IFFI as an investment with wrong priority as
reported in a section of the local news media but
ironically states that his participation in the final
day of the IFFI - Goa celebration should not be viewed
otherwise as he "intends to donate part of the
proceeds for social causes which have more priorities
viz health and education. This comment is akin to
"prostitutes demanding to continue their business on
condition they will give part of their proceeds for
social benefits" said one Mr Muralidhar from Bollywood
who has not taken kindly to the singer's snide
comments that Bollywood was biased. "If he (Remo)
hates the IFFI Goa event then just stay away from it
dont "use" it as a platform for personal sake" he
lamented.
