The US$ is set to take further pounding. U.K. Residents have a nice holiday in Goa - buy 85 Rupees to the Stg in Margao.

Spare a thought for what that means for the man on the road in Goa ;-) FN

RESPONSE: Hopefully, bigger tips? Lavish spending by U.K. Goans - thus helping the Goa economy. Entertaining family and friends, smiles all around; again filling the coffers of the Restaurant trade. It's called the trickle down effect - might take time to trickle down but it does work, believe me you.

For instance a taxi cost, for the day Rs1000 tip Rs200 - can't be bad for a days work? In fact Time and again I have heard that Goans/Indians are more generous than foreign tourists - yet at the Airport all the coolies rush to whites who give them a few coins or small notes. We Brit Goans who have moved about, give at least 10 percent of the Bill in Restaurants, as a tip !

cheers,

Gabe.
