The people of Ribandar might have earlier this year opposed the government move to rehabilitate the Baina sex workers there but thanks to the patronage of a local senior politician a sex brothel recently started in a Ribandar hotel is doing roaring business.
Coincidentally the residents of Ribandar had organized the public meeting in the hall of the same hotel to protest against the Baina sex workers being brought to Ribandar. The brothel is being housed at Hotel Sharda, a Ribandar hotel, which was inaugurated by North Goa Member of Parliament Mr. Sripad Naik . The brothel, which is located opposite the Chorao ferry at Ribandar, is also just 200 mts away from the local Church which itself is embroiled in a high profile case of sexual impropriety. The residents of Ribandar who are upset with the brothel being run in their neighourhood have decided to do everything possible to ensure that action is taken against the brothel and its owners.
