Bosco D'Mello wrote, 1) It is not clear (probably intentionally) who is arguing the matter on behalf of Mr. Frois
My comment: This is no secret. Myself in conjunction with my other lawyer colleagues are putting up the case on behalf of Mr. Frois, uncle of the alleged victim who is fighting to ensure that justice prevail and that nobody be shielded by trying to hush up such a alleged serious offence. 2) Did the party/lawyer arguing the matter on behalf of Mr. Frois obtain any information or attempt to obtain information from any authorised source from church authorities in Goa before submitting a petition in a court of law contending the above ?? Or is this all conjecture ??. My comment: The church is inaccessible. Nothing prevents the Church form making its stand and intentions known. We have to proceed on information and factual details that are at hand. 3) Sensational lawyers have succeeded in wooing judges and juries time and time again.....Their shenanigans in courts of law have left the layman wondering whether (s)he can depend on a court of law to dish out justice. My comment: There is no question of any sensation. The case is being fought on facts and merits. All that is being focussed is that nobody should be above the law. 4) Is this the only molestation case that is or has ever been heard in the Goa Children's Court ?? If NO ?? Then why are Goanetters only being updated on this case ?? My comment: Yes this is the first and only private criminal complaint filed before the Children's Court. The case assumes importance inview that the accused priest is the first Roman Catholic priest in Goa against whom the police have registered an F.I.R for an offence of molestation. Although in Madras even the Hindu Pontiff has not been spared from the law, in Goa the investigating officer has shyed from complying with her duties just because she is a catholic and the accused is a priest. Such a situation cannot be tolerated. The investigating officer Inspector Ezilda D' Souza had made a statement before the High Court on September 17th that the investigation in the molestation case against the accused Ribandar Parish priest Fr. Newton Rodrigues was in its last stage and that the charge-sheet against him was being filed shortly. Her inaction has triggered this private criminal complaint that has been filed before the recently constituted Children's court Aires Rodrigues Ribandar
