Dear Netters, Was just informed that the 13 year old victim and her parents of the Ribandar Church Molestation case have moved an application before the Children's Court that they would not like to proceed with the charges against Ribandar Parish Fr. Newton Rodrigues.
Whether such a case involving a very serious offence could like a property case be compromised and withdrawn is a matter that would have to be decided by the recently constituted Children's Court when it meets on Friday 7th January to decide the issue. As far as the uncle of the victim Mr. Anthony Frois on whose behalf I am pursuing the case we would strongly oppose any such match fixing cum hushing up and demand that law should take its own course and that the accused priest against whom the Goa Police have registered an F.I.R of molestation should face the due process of law alike any other citizen breaking the law. Whatever the price those seeking justice have to pay, believe me its worth it. Aires Rodrigues Ribandar
