Dear all:

If you missed some of the recent posts in Goan cyberdspace and the digest, here
is a summary:

Cecil wondered if there were double standards involved with some cybergoans.
Jose replied there
are NO double standards. Triple standards, YES. One for the Art College
alleged rape case, one
for the Ribandar alleged molestation case, and one standard for anyone from the
Bahamas.

Rene clarified his age was 69, and not 96 which is the number of World Goa Day
posts a week. He
also denied the rumour that World Goa Day was changing its name to World Goa
Year to reflect the
year-round celebrations, most of which have nothing to do with WGD.

The Goanet administration announced closing the discussion of closing
discussions. Cornel
suggested "heavyweight contributors" take a break. That did not impact anyone
since Goans weigh
less than a 100 kilos and fall in the middleweight and lightweight divisions.
This excludes their
ego which, if added, puts most in the heavyweight category.

Following that discussion, Gilbert announced a self-imposed moratorium of
posting - which would
last for 20 minutes. This self-censorship was announced 3 times on 5 different
Goan forums.

Sandeep was keen the communal history video be shown as freedom of expression
and speech should
not be curtailed in the interest of truth. This applies only to anything
anti-Christian. With
respect to RSS ideology there is no question of freedom of expression and
speech as the VHP has
already found truth and merely wants to convey it to the masses - via VCD.

A number of cyberGoan Catholics were silent on the Ribandar and Church issue
but became vocal on
the communal history video. When asked to explain their silence, most said
they "do not read
everything that is posted" or "they were having recent difficulty with their
internet service" or
"some emails go straight to their bulk folder and they have not checked it yet."

The Herald editors were shocked that Goans chose to celebrate on New Year's Eve
while the Tsunami
tradegy was unfolding. Privately, they admitted greater shock at the low
advertising rates they
received to advertise New Year's Eve events in their paper.

Mario was confused about whether the chickens were coming home to roost in
connection with India's
surging economy or inspite of it. He blamed his confusion on Tim and Merwyn for
the Iraqi
insurgency in Canada. When told that Iraq was in the Middle East and not North
America, he
replied, quoting noted cybergoan Gilbert, "give me facts, give me facts." He
then went on to
blame all Saddam supporters for global-warming which he believes does not exist.

So now you know the truth.

Regards,
George

P.S. My "so now you know the truth" posts are tongue-in-cheek emails (poor
satire if you wish). In
a recent "so now you know the truth" email, I mentioned as part of the "story"
that I was in Goa.
I was not. I mention this because perhaps some of the regulars I visit in Goa
when I am there may
have wondered why I had not made my usual contact.
