**There are many posts that keep popping up with fair regularity that I consider annoying and of little merit either to Goa or to the general membership. Consider, for example, the self promoting posts of Rene regarding Goa Day. Friends ,
I am not too sure the reason for Mr. D Mello's thought provoking post , I do not for one moment believe that I have in any way provoked him to do so. Mr. De Mello may wish to explain the
I agree with Rene.
While I own my presence here, in part at least, to Tim D'Mello (it was a letter to the editor of Gomantak Times by him, in the mid-nineties, that drew my attention to Goanet) I strongly disagree with the comment made above by Tim.
I can never cease to be amazed by the unputdownable spirit of Rene, who keeps building links among the Goan diaspora (and back home too, as seen from his encouragement to the VascokarsUnited list, among many other ventures.
Rene may have taken to the Internet when he was 60-plus, but he has really understood the power of networking people that this new medium offers. While someone who doesn't like Rene could easily dismiss this as just talk and words, to say that is to miss the point. Building links and putting scattered people in touch is what is needed most, specially when communication is so poor among the Goan diaspora otherwise.
Rene has been doing this and more.
... and I'm not saying all this because Rene posted a write-up on my recently-made-public Goabooks site recently! Sorry for the delay in making this point; in my case it was not connected with the tsunami ;-) but just forgetfulness and procastination. FN
