While all necessary arrangements are being made for the conduct of the customary
feast of Nossa Senhora das Brotas (Our Lady of Springs) at Anjediv island off
the
coast of Canacona near Karwar on 2nd February 2005, there is a spirit of delight
that several devoutees from Goa and abroad will be visiting the same this time.

To ensure that there is no rush on the Island there will tentatively be the sung
Feast Mass at 1000 a.m and another mass at 1.00 p.m.The Masses will be
celebrated by
priests from Goa.The modalities for entry in the Sea Bird arena are being
worked out
and any moment the same is expected to be notified. The Development Commissioner
karwar is also being requested to make the necessary arrangements to avert any
untoward incident. However for the information of devoutees from Goa they should
preferably take the Karanataka State transport bus service from Panaji Margao or
Vasco da Gama to Karwar which is approximately 77 kms from Margao and takes
about
one and half hour. The last KTC return bus to Goa is at 4.30 p.m. and upto
Canacona
is at 6.00 p.m. From there they can take a shared autorickshaw to the Officers
Colony entry gate Binaga of the Sea Bird which is just 4 kms from Karwar city.

>From there on the Navy will have to provide arrangements for the onward
>journey.
The Navy has repaired and maintained the church in its pristine glory and it is
understood that they will make all arrangements for the Mass as in the last
year.
Photography is strictly prohibited. However it is understood that as in the
past the
Navy will provide some footage of the Mass for the benefit of the media as in
the
past.

Meanwhile the devoutees are advised not to carry any eatables to the Island.
Even
arrangements of drinking water will be put in place as in the past by the Navy.
It should be noted strictly that the visit is only for the religious ceremonies
and
not for leisure or recreation. It must also be remembered that the visit to the
Island which is in the jurisdiction of the Seabird is subject to security
conditions
and hence surveillance of the Navy will prevail in all matters. This is the
tentative
programme as in the past however final word is yet to follow.
This is the tentative programme as in the past however final word is uet to

have
been informed of the developments both by the undersigned and the Archdiocese
