ONE ACT PLAY COMPETITION IN KUWAIT. Thanks for the great news that I am on goanet today. My name is Ignatius de Xelvon and I hope A. Veronica Fernades will not show his ignorance about not knowing me by my name (and not as Ignatius the Xelvon). How will you like if I address you Veronica the Mascar. I am proud of my village and have adopted this stage name. My artistic talents are well recognized, rewarded and appreciated. By the grace of God I am very happy that my Konkani play "Suriak Laglam Giran" (Eclipse of the Sun) was adjudged as the best and ranked FIRST at the United Club of Utorda's 4th annual one-act Konkani play competition this year. Year after year, I try to improvise my theatrical art. I am grateful to the organizers in Kuwait for giving me and others the opportunity to show off our unique talents; and it is due to the great efforts put in by my cast of professionals and talented actors that have been my strength and support. I sincerely hope that you have not been eclipsed by my performance. Can you script a play, did you participate in one in your life time. This has now led me to believe that you are trying to eclipse the real laloo prasad and act like one among the Goan community. You cannot digest my success. If by getting a goat, one can claim the first prize, the next time I can get a bull on stage with your picture hanging around its neck. I hope the animal rights movement will tolerate. Or am I to believe that the bull will have the misfortune to go to the slaughter's knives as is often your heriditary undercutting practices to tarnish the good reputation of Kuwait-based professional tiatrists and Kala Academy award winners. To pen a script, select a cast, produce and direct it with eye catching scenes, light effects, etc. Can you do it! Stop the menance. If you feel like doing sometime in your old age, go fly a kite!Remember the moral of my play "Ek Zadd Voddachem"? (An Oak Tree). Jai Konkani, jai tiatrists.
Ignatius de Xelvon [EMAIL PROTECTED] [All the Plays were not of high standard though first two deserve little more appreciation not because they were excellent but they were better than the others – as to say, something is better than nothing. Inspite of this all those directors and writers along with their artistes who took so much of pain and trouble and put in lot of efforts to stage their plays deserve highest compliments. They spent money from their own pockets and spent their precious time to bring in best of their calibre. Ignatius the Xelvon received the first prize for his play “Suryak Laglam Guiran” while Salu Faleiro got second for his “Kimsam”. It was admirable to see Salu even bringing a goat on the stage to fit into his play. These two plays deserve little more attention because both of them had some matter in them and their artistes also played their roles better than those in other plays. However, according to many who attended this programme Salu’s play was better than that of Ignatius’ and as such Salu should have received the first prize and not Ignatius.] A.
