Dear Goanetters
We've received considerable feedback to the new policy on dropping email addresses from the participants' postings.
Needless to say, the Goanet Admin Team will take all points of view into account, while adopting a policy that is in the best interest of Goanet and its members.
I would like to add that while Herman -- as the Goanet Chair -- as is usual took on the responsibility of announcing the new policy, it was a decision taken by the Goanet Admin Team (including myself) after considerable discussion. So don't criticise Herman as someone who posts those crucial posts that seem to carry bad-news ;-)
Another issue that comes up here is that, as a public mailing list, we at Goanet really needs a sustainable way of archiving all posts. This would help our discussion to continu 'living' on in cyberspace for as long as possible.
Goanet is therefore archived at mail-archives.com. This is certainly helpful. It ensures that we will *not* simply lose our archives if we change servers (as happened with the first five to six years of Goanet archives, currently largely untraceable ... meaning we are suffering from a lengthy period of lost history).
But on the other hand, it also means that you email address is out there on google.com, a situation some may not be happy with, because of its implications in terms of spam.
We do understand the points raised, and will do our best to work out a suitable fair and satisfactory to most (if not all). Your feedback is appreciated, at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(This may be treated as an 'interim' response, to take care of the time-zone differences of other Admin Team members. We don't want to make it seem that we're not concerned about what members are saying!)
