------- Dear George, I agree with most of the points you have raised in your debate with Gilbert Lawrence and I wish you best of luck in your endeavor to navigate his 'apples-and-oranges' logic. Far more patient people than you have attempted and failed. But I fail to understand the oncology connection. Who is a world class oncologist? Gilbert Lawrence? How is a world class oncologist different from a non-world class oncologist? Is a non-world class oncologist allowed to "write without logic, facts, or sense and waste people's time."? If this is true then Gilbert is perfectly correct in pursuing his senseless arguments as I don't recall him, or anyone else for that matter, ever referring to him as a world class oncologist. The point I am trying to make George is that your perfectly clear arguments have been rather sullied by that reference to Gilbert's profession. What does it matter if a person is a barber, a doctor, a florist, a journalist, a philosophy lecturer... or an oncologist? Your argument should be focused on what the person says rather than his claimed professional expertise. I understand that Gilbert's logic can be rather frustrating to comprehend as it does not follow the rules of conventional logic, but in Gilbert's defense he has always shown a willingness to learn. Perhaps rather than wasting time on the facts of the matter being debated it would be better if someone educated him on the basic flaws in his logic - in this and many other debates. In fact it is easy for people like you, George, to go about doing things like raising and distributing funds, identifying and supporting worthy causes etc etc. Whereas its much tougher for people like Gilbert who have to think up armchair opinions and give impractical suggestions without knowing the full picture or seeing the situation firsthand. If you put yourself in Gilbert's place you will begin to appreciate the effort he makes in typing out lengthy e-mails, that strain the logical sense of any reasonable person, and the incredible amount of time he spends on trying to spread his incredible views. While on the topic I wonder if we could have an Awards Ceremony for all Cyber Goans? Not the conventional awards for achievement but rather something similar to the IG awards or the Worst Movies (absolute turkeys) or Worst Dressed Celebrities or something similar. The categories, off the top of my mind, are: - Most Repetitious Cyber Goan - Most Illogical Cyber Goan - Joke Forwarder of the Year - Special Award for Bamon-Bashing Under the Guise of Anti-Caste Discussion - Hoax Spreader of the Year - Bharati Award (reserved category) - Most Undemocratic Moderator - Special Award for being more Portuguese than the Portuguese - Incredible Identical Identity Award - Make My Day, Every Year, Together We Can - Award (reserved category) - Aggressive Belligerent Newcomer Award - Lifetime Award for Annihilating the English Language This is sounding good! Please send me your suggestions for categories and nominations and I will see how these Awards can be hosted. Cheers! Cecil =====
