Visitors to the Aldona Church please note that once cannot enter the Church (or it's annex) between 12.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The main doors are closed and the so is the side gate. In case of an emergency though there is a bell (near the gate) which one can ring and a resident priest will come to the gate. If you can plead your case convincingly he will let you in.

Just wondering if this is a standard practice in other parishes in Goa. I can understand the resident priests wanting a bit of undisturbed relaxation but surely the Church proper can be kept open to those who wish to pray? Or maybe it is due to security reasons? After all a big sum of money (Rs. 1.75 lakhs?) was robbed from the Vicar's room in Aldona some 4 years back.
