He handed in his resignation to the Speaker of the legislative assembly in the state. Kaamat was also the power minister in the Manohar Parikkar government, and considered next in line to the former Chief Minister. He will be addressing a press conference with GPCC president Luisinio Falerio soon over the issue. Meanwhile, both BJP and Congress-led sides had expressed confidence that they would win the confidence vote, but had declined to reveal their strategy.
