Linda�s �EBONY & IVORY ACADEMY�, with her students, presented their inaugural Musical Extravaganza and Prize Distribution on Sunday, 30th January 2005, on stage, at a Margao School Hall. � The students performed individual and duet piano recitals of famous composers, selections of non-classical tunes, group dances including the Cha-Cha-Cha and Soca, in colourful costumes, all excellently staged and danced. � The entire programme was choreographed and conceptualized by Linda D�Costa, an experienced and qualified Piano Music teacher for many years, and one who can be very proud of a� 100% pass rate including over 96% in distinctions. � The highlight of the show included the Ensemble of Linda D�Costa (Piano), Victor Da Costa (1st Violin), Cheryl Pereira (2nd Violin), Johann Quadros (2nd Violin), Robert Fernandes (Cello), performing Waltz Themes from the Golden Age of Operetta. � The Chief Guest was Rev. Fr. Joe Rodrigues, President of The Diocesan Commission of Sacred Music and Guests of Honour were Rev. Fr. Peter Martin Rodrigues, Rev. Fr. Joseph Baptista, Adv. Alvaro Faleiro. � The Piano was provided by L.M. Furtado & Co., Panaji, and Anar Creations, Margao, stitched the costumes. Local TV Stations and the media covered the event. � Linda is the daughter of late Thome and late Lucy Pereira (Ex-Nairobi, Kenya & Betalbatim, Goa) and is part of a talented family where music has not only been a way of life but also an instrument of love. Her late parents were musicians as indeed are all her four brothers. � Her niece Lucy is a music graduate, composing her own songs and music, often playing her keyboard and singing skills with bands in Europe and also at Pedro�s Benaulim with an ex-UB40 musician. � Linda D� Costa, a Grade 8 Pianist is registered with the Trinity College and The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) through which London professional Bodies she enters her students for examinations in theory and practical, for grades 1 to 8. � Linda�s initial aim was to be a Concert Pianist, and she spent many long hours at her piano, and the conservatoire of music, whilst also concentrating on her academic studies at High School.
