After reading Mario Goveia's response to Bernado, I cannot resist sharing the core of a private e-mail message I received with reference to the caste discussion on the goanet. Is it perhaps driving a stake deep into the heart of caste debate?

Of course caste was not openly discussed because it is kept in the closet during most normal discourse. However, ask your Dad or some other relative of his age about marriages and matchmaking, when this issue comes out in full force among those who believe in it.
