Hello Santosh, You are a well educated person I presume, and you know the history of India better. Moslems ruled India for centuries, and yet they could not convert the entire India, Hindus stayed firm to their belief. Than came the Europeans who too could not convert the Indians to Christianity or whatever belief they brought along with them, hence those who did convert remained a minority. Under what circumstances these minorities converted is another matter. Hindus as you know never ruled India for such a long period and yet they remained firm to their belief.
So why all of a sudden this fears that few missionaries are out to convert the entire India? Why is the VHP so scared? Are they not confident of their religion, their philosophies? Are their beliefs not strong? Than why, all this fanaticism? Who brought this term in our vocabularies HINDUTVA? It's not a matter of chauvinism. I have had many Hindu friends in my circle; have attended their festivals best being the Ganesh festival eating lots of sweets at their places. I have read almost all the comics available on Hindu mythology and enjoyed reading them. I have no dislike for Hinduism, but the situation that is prevailing now a day with a minority VHP, what is your say on this? Why are they so scared? Or are they themselves not sure of their faith that they want to make troubles for minorities? Hinduism has spread out all over the world, and nowhere the majority is making trouble for them. Many westerners have embraced Hinduism, Buddism etc, and they being minorities are not treated the way VHP is doing for the minorities here. Yes the Moslems did face some problems all over the world after September 11th, but that too has subsided, but when will the VHP change themselves? Can you change their mentality? Santosh? And let others live their lives in peace? Coming to caste system, don't you think that the cast system that is prevailing now, did originate centuries ago in India, or did the Moslems and Christians bring it when they ruled this land? We Christians are very peaceful citizens of Goa as well as India, and nowhere you must have heard us making any problems, so what you and Xhakuti say shows your VHP mentality. For you we should suffer in silence what comes our way, without even raising our voice, unlike some who raise swords? Are we witnessing the birth or "outing" of a new fundamentalist Goan Catholic ideology? Perhaps, Xacuti is right. The silent lurkers are gravitating to the militant anti-establishment "Goancenter".
